The Launch of the Centre for an Informed Society

05/10/2023

On Wednesday, on 3rd October 2023, at a notable press conference, we unveiled the newest force for positive change in the Czech Republic: the Centre for an Informed Society (CIS). As an independent non-governmental and non-profit organization, CIS operates free from political affiliations, standing steadfastly on the principles of a robust democratic society that defies authoritarian shifts. Our mission is founded upon three core pillars:

  • Resilient Democracy: We aim to underline the lurking threats from authoritarian entities, intent on restoring faith in the democratic process.
  • Resilience in the Infosphere: Empowering public institutions and civil groups with tools to discern and navigate the vast information space, emphasizing responsible decision-making and countering especially those threats emanating from Russia.
  • Security Academy A platform to mold the next generation of experts and foreign policy and security decision-makers, emphasizing the importance of well-informed and vigilant leaders.

As evident from the declining state of democracy in certain Central European countries, there's an imminent need to act. For the sake of the Czech Republic, which we deeply cherish, we will be proactive, drawing lessons from the struggles faced by our neighbors. We'll launch analyses, online campaigns, and offer fact-driven strategies to our politicians and public institutions, aiming for a stronger democratic fabric. Join us in this critical mission, as we endeavor to ensure that the Czech Republic remains resistant to the divisive influences witnessed in countries like Hungary and Slovakia.
